Rap Soda: Signature Flavours from Idea to Can
What is Rap Soda?
Rap Soda is an in-house soda brand developed by Liquid Solution, built around a bold identity and signature flavours — blue raspberry, Tokyo white peach, midnight melon. Every can is designed as its own character, not just a flavour variant on a shared base.
The challenge: building a soda brand with character
The soda aisle is crowded with interchangeable products — same classic flavours, same visual codes, same vague promises. Standing out takes more than a good recipe: it takes an identity that cuts through, flavours that tell a story, and execution solid enough to hold up on shelf. That was the mandate Liquid Solution set for Rap Soda: build a brand where taste and visual identity move together, from the first brief to the sealed can.
The goal wasn't to copy an existing soda with a new label. It was to create three distinct flavours, each with its own personality, able to live under one brand roof without blending into each other.
The flavour work: three characters, three cans
The heart of the Rap Soda project is flavour development. Rather than starting from a neutral base and bolting on an aroma, Liquid Solution built each recipe as a complete taste profile — acidity, sweetness, carbonation, and aroma tuned so the flavour holds from the first sip to the last.
- Blue raspberry — the classic reinvented, bright and instantly recognizable, built for a bold mouthfeel and a colour that pops on shelf.
- Tokyo white peach — a more delicate, floral profile inspired by premium Asian sodas, for a customer looking for something beyond standard sweetness.
- Midnight melon — a cool, slightly mysterious note, positioned as the signature late-night flavour.
Each can becomes a character: a name, a visual world, a taste profile of its own. That character-first logic — not just SKU logic — is what sets Liquid Solution's brand development apart.
What did Liquid Solution deliver for Rap Soda?
Liquid Solution delivered full flavour development for every Rap Soda variant using quality ingredients, Health Canada regulatory compliance, a vibrant can design distinct per flavour, and coordination of the canning run — a project led from idea to shelf.
In practice, that covers:
- Flavour formulation — iterative development of each profile (blue raspberry, Tokyo white peach, midnight melon) with quality ingredients, refined to a stable, repeatable taste.
- Regulatory compliance — verifying Health Canada requirements applicable to flavoured carbonated beverages: ingredient list, bilingual labelling, nutrition facts table.
- Packaging design — a distinct visual identity per flavour, recognizable at a glance on shelf, while staying cohesive under the Rap Soda brand. See beverage packaging design.
- Canning — matched with a co-packing partner for production, accounting for the market's typical minimum order quantities (generally 5,000 to 50,000 units depending on format). For criteria on choosing a bottler, see our Quebec co-packing guide.
- Deposit compliance — cans in the 100 ml to 2 L range sold in Quebec fall under RECYC-QUÉBEC's deposit system (10¢ per container), a factor built into format and pricing planning from the start.
What does this case demonstrate about Liquid Solution's approach?
The Rap Soda case shows that Liquid Solution can lead a multi-flavour beverage brand end to end — formulation, compliance, design — treating each flavour as its own product rather than a minor variant, while keeping the brand identity cohesive.
It's the same approach Liquid Solution applies to its other in-house brands, like Connecte (caffeine-free energy drink) or Mox Mocktail (premium non-alcoholic cocktails): start from a strong brand idea, and push it through to a finished, compliant, shelf-ready product.
